Festivals
Over the past ten years, we have held four festivals of Universal Sacred Music. We just held our very exciting day long 5th Festival which was on November 12, 2011.
Harold Rosenbaum, Artistic Director came on board for our 3rd Festival in 2008. The New York Virtuoso Singers, founded by Maestro Rosenbaum, was the featured choir. Composers whose works were presented, included Davidson, Zaimont, and others.
The 4th Festival took place in April of 2010 at Merkin Concert Hall, NYC. Performers included The New York Virtuoso Singers, Catherine Russell, and The Canticum Novum Youth Choir. This was the first time the festival has used a children’s choir to sing music that depicted the universal love of God.
On November 12, 2011, we held our 5th Festival of Universal Sacred Music at Symphony Space, located at 95th Street on Broadway, NYC. The festival was extremely exciting this year, as we made this event free to the public, AND we brought in more than three times the audience than in past Festivals! It ran from 2PM until 10:40PM. Our Featured performers were: Anonymous 4, Deepak Kumar Pareek, The New York Virtuoso Singers with James Adams on organ, The Riverside Church Inspirational Choir, Maya Raviv, David Newman, The Canticum Novum Youth Choir, Catherine Russell, Roger Davidson, Thomas McCargar with Brent Funderburk on piano, The Western Wind, and music by Sharon Farber with Omar Faruk Tekbnilek, David Kontesz and Freddy Schiftan as principal instrumentalists.
The event was similar to the Wall to Wall concerts that Symphony Space is famous for. A special treat during the performance in the inner lobby was a photography show about the nature of light by Aicha Skandrani, a highly inspired Tunisian born artist who currently lives in France. This event was co-sponsored by the United Nations Association, USA Southern New York State Division.
