Katy Taylor & Amy Fradon

Katy and Amy are dear friends and Interfaith Ministers who love to spend time in each other's company. Making music together is one of the ways in which they can express their friendship and love for each other, while at the same time finding connection to God/Spirit.

Katy studied music in Vienna and was later introduced to the music of 12th c. German Abbess Hildegard of Bingen, which became a passion for her. She composes her own devotional music and has a new CD, called Welcome Brigid coming out in 2005. Her music is deeply reflective and speaks of her love of Celtic and medieval influences.

Amy has sung a wide variety of music and writes her own, as well. Her own journey with singing and passion for spiritual discovery led her to create the Vocal Visionary work, helping people into spiritual awakening through the medium of voice. She has two solo CDs to her credit. Katy and Amy released their first CD together last Christmas called, The Path.

FROM THE COMPOSER

" Chalice of God "

It was our intention to channel/create a body of music that is interfaith accessible-that explores concepts of God and practice which transcend the various established religious expressions, yet is still grounded in traditional spiritual and religious experience. For this reason, we chose the form of the Mass, as a depiction of the ritualized journey and initiation into and with God presence that is a part of any spiritual quest. We brainstormed with a female Episcopal priest about what the different components of the mass symbolize. Amy allowed the form and intention to offer lyrics through her, and Katy subsequently channeled the music from the inspiration of the words and intention. Arrangements were created together.

The phases of the journey include the opening (Kyrie), praising (Gloria), prayer (Pater Noster), peace (Passing of the Peace), innocence (Agnus Dei), and abundance (Ite Misse Est). -Katy Taylor and Amy Fradon
