Anatoly Korolyov was born in Leningrad, Russia. He studied at the Special Music School and the faculty of conducting of the Leningrad Conservatory. He began composing music in his student years. After graduating from Professor Vladimir Tsytovich’s composition class at the Leningrad Conservatory, he continued post-graduate studies under Boris Arapov. He has been a member of the Composer’s Union since 1978. Now Mr. Korolyov is professor of instrumentation and Artistic Director of the music composition laboratory at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and has been named Honoured Artist of Russia.

Mr. Korolyov has composed numerous symphonic and chamber music works, as well as electronic compositions. His music has been performed in many cities throughout Russia, as well as in Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia and South America. They have also been broadcast in Europe.
